BEST WESTERN PLUS Shore Cliff Lodge Helps Local Animal Shelter
Meghan Martin, Martin Resorts’ Community Dog Relations Ambassador presents donation to Woods Humane Society and its community Programs Director, Steve Kragenbrink.
We believe no family member should be left behind during your visit to Pismo Beach, and this includes four-legged travel companions! That’s why we happily offer dog-friendly accommodations for you and Fido. We strive to provide a comfortable stay for all guests and provide furry friends with dog beds, treats and bowls as well as a designated play area and pet relief area. As part of our dog policy we collect a $20 nightly dog fee with the intention of donating 10% of the pet fee to the Woods Humane Society.
The Woods Humane Society is an animal sheltering, adoption and welfare nonprofit organization based in San Luis Obispo that annually places over 1,100 dogs and cats into loving homes. With the dedicated staff, hardworking volunteers and financial contributions of the community the Woods Humane Society has a 97% adoption rate for all the animals who temporarily call their state-of-the-art facility home.
We are excited to announce that from the 2012 pet fees collected from our hotel along with 3 other Martin Resorts sister hotels we were able to donate $4000 to the Woods Humane Society. Our donation will support the ongoing care and sheltering of homeless animals in San Luis Obispo. Woods Humane Society may use the donation to purchase supplies such as food, new toys, and comfortable dog beds, cover costs for micro chipping and spay and neutering, which each animal receives before they are adopted. With our annual donation to the Woods Humane Society we feel a sense of satisfaction knowing we are helping local homeless animals find their permanent home.

Pacific Breeze Concerts at Dinosaur Caves Park
This four show concert series features exceptional regional musical groups as well as special family activities and as always it’s FREE! Food will be available from Orange Cat Cafe and Mr. Dog.

Art in the Park at the Dinosaur Caves
What: Over 100 local artists and craftsmen sell and display their work, including paintings, sculpture, pottery, glass, textiles, jewelry, wood and metal furniture, and more. The event also features live music, hands-on children’s activities, fresh flowers and plants, a BBQ, and on-site massage.
When: First Sunday of the Month (May – November) 10am-4pm

Taste of Pismo 2013 Package

Clean the World with BEST WESTERN PLUS Shore Cliff Lodge
As part of our green initiatives, the BEST WESTERN PLUS Shore Cliff Lodge and Martin Resorts have partnered with Clean the World to collect and recycle soaps, shampoos, conditioners, lotions and gels that help fight the global spread of preventable disease. The soaps collected by BEST WESTERN PLUS Shore Cliff Lodge and Martin Resorts are shipped to Clean the World for recycling and distribution to communities and countries in greatest need. Clean the World Foundation has a mission to provide soap where needed to help improve hygiene and sanitation conditions, to lessen the impact of disease, and to promote better hygiene and living conditions worldwide.
The Clean the World partnership fits with Martin Resort’s sustainability practices and each Martin Resorts property participates. In 2012, Martin Resorts collected 3,629 pounds of materials, which produced 19,355 new bars of soap to be distributed, while diverting 5,138 pounds of waste from local landfills.
In 2012, the BEST WESTERN PLUS Shore Cliff Lodge collected 638 pounds of soap, which produced 3,403 new bars of soap to be distributed to children and families in need all over the world, while diverting 953 pounds of waste from local landfills.
We are happy with our success in 2012 and look forward to collecting even more during 2013!
