What: Our mission is to bring Pinot Noir producers from the most exceptional and unique regions in the world together with Pinot Noir enthusiasts for a weekend of celebration and education on the shores of California’s beautiful Central Coast.
The annual event includes two days of in-depth Tasting seminars and excursions, Grand Tastings by the Sea (each with a unique roster of wineries), a featured Burgundy tasting and gourmet, locally-influenced lunches and dinners. These extraordinary food and wine extravaganzas will be hosted by participating wineries and feature an outstanding panel of sommeliers from across the U.S.
The 12th Annual World of Pinot Noir features events that have become WOPN favorites, such as the two Grand Tastings By The Sea on Friday and Saturday afternoons, a traditional seminar and pairing on Friday and our always-popular Burgundy Seminar on Saturday. But 2012 also sees new events - Friday night you can choose between a vintage Burgundian Dinner or a Seaside Fête on Avila Beach, Saturday daytime choices include Pinot Adventure Camp - kayaking, hiking or golf with winemakers, followed by lunch with Pinot Noir and Saturday evening is highlighted by dinner at five select Central Coast restaurants, with winemakers sharing their wines and stories.

This three show spring series will feature exceptional regional musical groups as well as special family activities and as always it’s FREE! What: As one of California’s largest festivals and premiere festival on the Central Coast this family-style event brings together thousands of visitors and residents to enjoy activities and entertainment, the Strawberry Stampede, hundreds of art, craft and display booths, ethnic foods, and of course, scrumptious strawberry treats of all kinds in shortcakes, funnel cakes, milkshakes, ice cream and by the box!

Visiting Pismo Beach for the St. Anthony’s Celebration?
What: The St. Anthony’s Celebration Committee sponsors this annual event to celebrate the cultural contribution of the area’s Portuguese descendants. The parade begins on Sunday at 9:30am with sopas being served at the St. Anthony’s grounds.
Festivities will begin at noon Saturday with a barbecue luncheon for all donors, followed by an auction of crafts, fruits, vegetables, garden supplies, appliances, tools, gift certificates and Portuguese sweetbread. Dancing to the music of Loucura will begin at 8 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Building right after the presentation of the outgoing and incoming queens.
The traditional grand march with the entourage of queens and attendants plus the new slate of officers at 8 p.m. in the Veterans Memorial Building will be followed by dancing.

What: The Great Western Bicycle Rally (GWBR) is a 47-year old event located in Paso Robles, California, and takes place on every Memorial Day Weekend. Paso Robles countryside is one of the premier areas in California to ride bicycles because of the variety of roads and scenery available for Rally riders to enjoy. Every year can be a different experience for riders because there are such a variety of routes.

Sigma Nu’s 5th Annual Rubber Ducky Derby
What: These lucky ducks are raising money to help cure cancer while racing towards glory and prizes…and Downtown San Luis Obispo truly has something for everyone!
We will float thousands of rubber ducks down San Luis Creek all to benefit the American Cancer Society.
The starting line will be under the bridge behind Native Lounge (Formerly Mission Grill), and then the race will end under the bridge that crosses next to Novo. The race duration will range from 10-20 minutes in length. The ducks will float down the creek and over waterfalls, and the first duck to cross the finish line will win the Grand Prize 42″ Plasma HDTV. There will be prizes for 1st through 10th place ducks! You do not need to be present to win and we will contact you if you have won any of the prizes.
Throughout the event, there will be a BBQ with chips from PopChips and cookies from Cal Poly Women’s Field Hockey, various children’s’ activities, as well as a silent auction with items from Kevin Main Jewelry, Kwirkworld, Pillow Pets, Paper Sky and Gold Concept. The winners of the silent auction will be notified as the event concludes.

SLO Health & Fitness Expo 5k
What: The SLO Health and Fitness Expo 5K will take you along the Highway 101 Bike Path up to Madonna Mountain & back up to the Alex Madonna Expo Center. This run affords you beautiful views of the hills and pastures of San Luis Obispo over a distance of 3.1 miles. The race begins and ends at the Alex Madonna Expo Center in San Luis Obispo, CA; the race starts at 8:30am. You do not have to be a serious runner to participate; we encourage all walkers and runners who are comfortable on trails to come out to celebrate health and fitness while enjoying the healthy lifestyle fostered on the Central Coast.

The Best Western Shore Cliff Lodge had another great year on the Central Coast. We were honored to host veterans participating with Ride 2 Recovery. This awesome group works with injured veterans to overcome obstacles through cycling. Recently, we began the Clean the World Soap Recycling program. We ended the year by hosting Hospice of San Luis Obispo’s “Light Up A Life” ceremony. Some of you may have already met our new neighbors in the restaurant next door, welcome Ventana Grill! Looking forward to 2011, we are excited to become the BEST WESTERN PLUS Shore Cliff Lodge!
